Street Maintenance

The Division maintains over 30 miles of roadway within the City including filling potholes, street sweeping, salting, plowing, mowing berms, and repairing guardrails.

Street Maintenance Program

Every year the City sets aside capital funding for residential street maintenance which includes rebuilding, resealing, and/or repaving roads throughout the City as identified with the most need by the City engineer. This program is usually performed by a contractor. However, in between paving you may see City crews crack sealing, filling potholes, or making minor paving repairs.

Storm Sewer Maintenance

The division is responsible for catch basin repairs and rebuilds, and problems that may develop with the City's underground storm sewer systems. This could include repairing and replacing old or collapsed pipes, or the clean out of clogged pipes in the system.

Leaf Collection Program

An important part of storm sewer maintenance is keeping storm sewer clean and clear, this includes preventing leaves and debris for entering the sewer. To help with this, the City operates a leaf collection program from late October to early December. Residents should rake leaves to within six inches of the curb, City crews, on a rotating schedule and weather permitting, will then come and collect the leaves from your yard.

Sign Maintenance

The division is responsible for installing and repairing street name signs, all traffic signs, and traffic lights within the city. They also paint intersection crosswalks and caution signs, support construction detour traffic control and accident cleanup, and maintain the decorative signage along Water and Center Streets.

Hometown Heroes Banner Program
