Natural Gas Aggregation
What is Gas Aggregation?
Natural Gas Aggregation means Chardon's residents have voted to allow the City contract for a natural gas supplier on their behalf. Under governmental aggregation programs, local governments bring their citizens together to gain group buying power for the purchase of competitively priced natural gas from a retail natural gas supplier certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

Current Supplier and Rate
The City’s natural gas aggregation program is managed through our membership with the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) by NextEra Energy, and the agreement currently establishes a fixed rate of 5.59 dollars/Mcf. This rate is effective for the January 2026 through May 2026 meter reads, and there is no early termination fee if you choose to exit NOPEC's programs.
Customers are welcome to compare their electric supply options using the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s Apples to Apples Tool at energychoice.ohio.gov/applestoapples.aspx, and to review other NOPEC-exclusive electric supply options, including 12- and 24-Month Fixed Rate plans, at nopec.org/checkrates.
